Notes About Running CoHort Programs On Mac OS X
[This information can also be found within the programs:
see 'Help : Mac OS X'.]
For All CoHort Programs
- CoHort programs usually work best with the latest version of Java. CoHort programs need at least 'Java 1.3.1 Update 1'.
You can use 'System Preferences : Software Update' to get the
latest version of Java.
- CoHort programs work better at screen resolutions of 1024x768 or
higher.
You can use 'System Preferences : Displays : Display : Resolution'
to select 1024x768 or higher.
- Double clicking on a file in Finder will not start one of the
CoHort programs. You have to start the program then open the file.
- In the file dialog boxes, CD ROM drives and other drives appear
under '/Volumes'.
- In Mac OS X versions prior to 10.2, switching windows (for example,
from a dialog box to the main window) requires a separate mouse
click to select the new window. After that click, you can do
anything you want in the new window.
- Choosing '[ProgramName] : Quit' quits the entire application
without saving your work. Use 'File : Exit' to exit the current
window and see the 'Save Yes/No' dialog box.
Notes Specifically Related To CoPlot
- If no dialog box is open, you can pick an object by using Apple
click.
- If the CoPlot main window is partly hidden by the dock, you can
resize the window or use 'System Preferences : Dock' to select
a smaller 'Dock Size' or use
'Automatically hide and show the dock'.
- Leave 'Drawing : Other : Smoothing' set to 'On'.Otherwise, your drawing won't look good.
- Leave 'Screen : Automatic Redraw' set to
'Yes, always redraw everything'.
If you set it to 'Yes, but just things that change'
CoPlot will often leaves 'ghosts' of old objects on the screen.
